![]() I have tried with it set to headphone out and RCA out with my headphones unplugged (since I dont want to break them at 100% windows volume) and it will not pass -10dB.īasically what I need is something that I can use to measure and see if there is clipping so I can know how high to put the Windows volume when I save enough for an external amp. I hear that leaving Win7 volume at 100% gives the best quality, but you have to worry about clipping if your soundcard is not high enough quality. I am asking this because I want to know whether or not I will have clipping at 100% Windows 7 volume so that I can just use the amp knob to change the volume levels. ![]() I am rather new to the subject of clipping and I am getting a dedicated amp sometime in the future. Then, after the Vu meter apears you can right click and you have 2 options : Layout and Group. ![]() Does this mean that I cannot clip with this card? For some reason the windows volume level does not affect the VU meter at all, the only thing that makes the VU meter move is the "amount" of music playing at a part in a song. Obviously, after you install the component you have to add a new panel to your layout : layout editing - right click in a panel where you want to add this vu meter - Add panel - Visualisation - Analog VU Meter. Right now I am using the Xonar Essence STX for a soundcard. I don't have the download link handy, but search for foovisvumeter.dll - that should also bring back some references to skin files Put them in the components folder (another location can be configured in the Advanced config tab) and the rest should be easy. ![]() I have tried everything and I cannot get the VU meter to go past -10dB. ![]()
